Take a look at this seven-minute 1980's style Star Wars Anime by Paul Johnson. This short film Titled "TIE Fighter" focuses on a space battle between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance.

As you can clearly see from the video below the animation style harkens back to Anime classics like Akira and Robotech. It took Johnson over 4yrs to finish the film, him being the sole artist and animator and all. WOW! He did however have help from Joseph Leyva on the sound design and the score from Zak Rahman. According to Johnson the inspiration came from Lucasarts’ 1994 TIE Fighter game. Click HERE for a link to character bios and plot overview for the film.

I don't know about you guys but I'm a huge fan of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars serires that ran for 6 seasons and the current show Star Wars: Rebels but I would love to see a more adult cartoon/Anime catered to the older fans of the Star Wars universe.

What do you guys think of this short Anime and would you like to see Disney/Lucas Film put out an official Anime?
