It has been announced that Hawkgirl will be introduced to DC's shared (TV) universe via the upcoming Arrow/Flash spin-off series. The fan favorite hero will be played by newcomer Ciara Renée (Big Fish and Pippin-Broadway).

Renée joins Brandon Routh, Victor Garber, Wentworth Miller, and Caity Lotz. Renée will be playing the Kendra Saunders version of the character from Geoff Johns run of Justice Society of America. This is NOT the beloved Shayera Thal of Thanagar version from the Bruce Timm (Justice League animated series.) This version of the character has been described as “a young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries. When provoked, her ancient warrior persona manifests itself, along with wings that grow out of her back, earning her the moniker Hawkgirl". It's also important to point out that in this version Hawkgirl is not an alien. It appears that the've taken elements from both the Shayera and Kendra back stories an combined them as we've seen them do similar things in regards to The Flash character with the Barry Allen and Wally West back stories. There's been no word on what this new spin-off series will be titled but we expect word soon.
